Global Travel Market has taken on another high profile white label meta search partnership after securing a deal with the Independent newspaper.

The travel section on the new independent.co.uk website will feature traditional flight and hotel search functionality provided by the growing GTM organisation.

The company already works with business freesheet City AM, the Telegraph newspaper for its ex-pat travel search tool and also runs meta search for UK and European users on the Lonely Planet website.

The deal means all the UK’s quality newspaper brands, apart from the Times Online, have implemented a meta search partner to run travel search on their websites.

The Telegraph and the Guardian newspapers currently use Travelsupermarket for their main product and fare search functionality. Tabloid title The Sun has an agreement with Co-Operative Travel for its online travel channel.

Chief executive Dave Simmons told Travolution: “Global Travel Market is delighted to have been chosen by the Independent to provide flight search functionality on the revamped independent.co.uk.

“The strength of Global Travel Markets environmental credentials, breadth of vendors searched and simplicity of the proposition were all key elements that helped to secure the partnership.”

Meanwhile, GTM has acquired the Russian web development firm Firm Vision for an undisclosed fee.

The company, which has worked with GTM for the past three years, will be renamed GTM Developments but will remain based in the Russian city of Nizhny Novogrod and run by existing manager Andrey Shastin.

Alongside its existing GTM work, Firm Vision has run web development projects for childfriendly.co.uk, Carbon Responsible, Philippines Tourism Board and Equator Learning.
