Travel Counsellors has become one of the first UK customers of Microsoft Surface Hub technology to help it collaborate and communicate with colleagues.

Travel Counsellors has become one of the first UK customers of Microsoft Surface Hub technology to help it collaborate and communicate with colleagues.

The Manchester-based agency, which has a network of 1,500 franchisees working from home in the UK and six overseas territories, has installed its first device.

Four more are due to be delivered in the next few months as the firm looks to “add a new dimension to the workplace”.

Microsoft Surface Hub are touchscreen interactive whiteboards that can be used in meeting spaces and conference rooms for presentations, brainstorming and video-conferencing.

Rob Snelson, IT director at Travel Counsellors, said: “For us, technology is the single most important tangible aspect of our business that helps us care even more for our customers.

“When we were planning our office space, we wanted to ensure we had technology that would allow us to collaborate, discuss and share globally; Surface Hub does just that.

“Previously, we looked into video conferencing technologies but they were impractical, bulky and unappealing.

“After visiting Microsoft and having a demo of the Surface Hub, we ordered five. The feedback from the team has already been incredible.

“As well as being able to make video calls, enable the digital whiteboard, share content and interact with people in the room and anywhere else, you can also annotate web pages and it even senses when you walk in the room.

“We are looking forward to having more installed as it is already strengthening collaboration within the team which spans worldwide, and in-turn strengthens our offering.”

Rikke Rasmussen, senior product marketing manager, Surface Hub at Microsoft, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Travel Counsellors as one of our Surface Hub customers in the UK market.

“We continue to see tremendous enthusiasm for Surface Hub from those who have experienced the product – as shown here in the travel industry and with remote employee engagement.

“As a new category of collaboration device designed to unlock the power of the group, we believe Surface Hub will transform how people get work done and can increase group productivity in the workplace and beyond.”
