Tuxedo Money Solutions, a payment technology and prepaid card provider, has been working with two agency consortia to implement its Escape prepaid card programme.

Since 2015, 55 Advantage members have integrated Tuxedo’s Escape Travel Money Prepaid MasterCard card programme with the consortium’s existing foreign exchange platform, including Spear Travels, Alba Travel, Dawson and Sanderson, Ritchie Travel and Regal Travel.

And 11 agencies in The Global Travel Group have worked with Tuxedo since February 2016 to integrate the Escape programme. The partnership with Tuxedo is Global’s first venture into the growing prepaid card market.

Joanne Briggs, Tuxedo relationship manager, said: “The value of prepaid cards in consumer travel alone is expected to reach £36 billion by 2017.

“Travel agents can tap into this profitable market to bring about incremental income.”

Briggs is training agents about selling and using Escape, and liaising with management to implement promotional activity and ways to maximise the benefits of the programme.

Tuxedo says it pays a “generous commission rate” to agents on all loads that take place over the lifespan of a card.

Briggs has been working with Advantage agents since April 2015.

Victoria Jones, commercial account manager at Advantage Travel, added: “This new partnership offers an important service for members who will benefit from enhanced cash flow, less administration, greater management information and ultimately a more profitable business.”
