TripAdvisor bolsters presence in holiday rentals sector with HouseTrip acquisition

TripAdvisor has announced the purchase of London-based holiday rentals site HouseTrip.

TripAdvisor has announced the purchase of London-based holiday rentals site HouseTrip.

The global review and travel planning and booking site has not revealed how much it has paid for HouseTrip.

The purchase is a further strengthening of TripAdvisor’s foothold in the alternative, non-hotel, hospitality sector growth of which is being spearheaded by Airbnb.

HouseTrip listings are primarily in urban locations in Europe and the addition of its inventory takes the total of vacation rentals to over 770,00.

In a statement TripAdvisor said the HouseTrip brand will “move forward as part of the TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals group”.

HouseTrip’s listings will be integrated into and displayed on TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals, giving them access to the audience of the “world’s largest travel site”.
