The first digital marketing director appointed by Tui Group for its mainstream business is to leave the company.

Dan Robb, who was appointed by the travel giant in March 2014 having worked at Google where he was industry head for travel, will become chief marketing officer at Rentalcars.

Manchester-based Rentalcars is the hugely successful Priceline-owned specialist founded by Greg Wills, the brother of former Virgin Holidays director Amanda.

Robb said:  It’s been a very exciting 18 months spent at Tui and I truly believe that the Tui Group’s digital capability has progressed considerably in this time.

“I am very confident that the team I have built will continue this progress and ensure Tui deploys market leading digital strategy and execution.

“However, at times in any ones career, certain undeniable opportunities present themselves and so I am delighted and extremely excited to be joining a fabulous business in Rentalcars.com.

“I am looking forward to joining their impressive management team. Rentalcars.com is already extremely strong in the marketing function, both direct to the consumer and through their fast growing B2B brand Rentalcars Connect.

“I feel very strongly that rentalcars.com has a fantastic base to continue to develop their already proven marketing strength.”

Prior to Tui Robb worked at Google for nine years, leading the development and growth of the search engine giant’s travel team.

Before that, he worked at Associated News for seven years where he had management roles at Teletext Holidays.

Confirming Robb’s departure a spokesman for Tui Group said Zoe Chant will be replacing him as interim digital marketing director reporting to group chief marketing officer Erik Friemuth.
