Jet2.com has created what it claims is a unique tool for airlines with the addition of an online shopping basket to allow users to book multiple trips under one transaction.

The tool will help customers looking to book more than one journey to multiple destinations or create a multi-stop trip.

The addition of the shopping basket system is part of a wider redesign of the site and a major upgrade of its reservation system.

A MyJet2 function has also been included to allow passengers to view or modify bookings online – a service which will be extended into a loyalty programme later this year.

The no-frills airline took its IT in-house in February this year to overhaul some key areas of technology behind the scenes.

Jet2.com chief executive Philip Meeson said: “We have made some significant functionality upgrades to our reservations system which we hope will give our customers an enhanced, smoother online experience with us.

“In particular, research shows our customers are increasingly making more than just one booking at a time when they buy online from us, so it was important that we made the shopping basket facility available to those people who are, for example, making repeat travel bookings to their holiday homes, commuting or just want to plan their full season of leisure travel in one easy purchase.”
