A deal to drive revenue from ferry travel booked through the Holland.com website has been struck between the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions and Direct Ferries.

The collaboration gives users of the site access to all ferry options and prices in one place.

These include including Harwich-Hook of Holland, Hull-Rotterdam, Newcastle-Amsterdam, Dover-Calais and Dover-Dunkirk.

Direct Ferries already provides ferry booking technology for third parties including Avios and deals with other major players are said to be in the pipeline.

The company’s sales and marketing director, Andrew Crowe, said: “The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions is very forward thinking in its approach, looking at ways to create revenue as well as providing fantastic information to the customer when they are planning their visit to Holland.

“Working with us allows them to generate income when visitors to their site book ferry crossings. It is surprising how few tourist boards offer this and it is certainly an area that we see growing in the future.”
