UK travel software firm Multicom has been sold to Swedish company Paxport for an undisclosed sum.

Paxport is an Iata NDC strategic partner and a travel retail technology provider, enabling airlines and travel resellers to grow their ancillary revenues.

Multicom was established in 1991 and runs the FindandBook system. Its network of travel companies includes more than 10,000 agents and operators.

The merger will double Paxport’s size and allow its services to access the booking stage, a vital complement to the post-booking user experience provided today, and the ability to offer fast-to-market, plug and play services.

Acquiring strategic competence, adding new products and reaching a larger customer base is part of Paxport’s strategy to grow and differentiate by providing outstanding travel merchandising solutions.

The new company will have around 100 staff and be headquartered in Stockholm. Multicom will remain located in Bristol.

Paxport CEO, Tony Barker, said: “We are very excited about bringing the two companies together. There are great synergies and we believe the timing is perfect.

“Together, we will bring the traveller experience to an entirely new level by aggregating and merchandising flights, hotels and other travel enhancing services in the different channels preferred and used by travellers.

“The combined knowledge and technology of the companies will help us become the leading provider in this field.”
