Amadeus, Booking.com and Vertical Systems among winners at Globe Travel Awards

The annual Globe Travel Awards, the flagship annual trade ceremony run by Travolution parent Travel Weekly Group, saw some notable winners from the travel technology sector last night.

The annual Globe Travel Awards, the flagship annual trade ceremony run by Travolution parent Travel Weekly Group, saw some notable winners from the travel technology sector last night.

Voted for by UK travel agents, the award for best technology provider went to Amadeus and in the consumer category voted for by readers of the Mail on Sunday, Booking.com was named Favourite Online Booking Website.

There was a personal award for Vertical Systems’ operations director Nyki Dilworth, who was awarded the Penny Akam Unsung Hero Award given out each year to a travel industry professional who goes beyond the call of duty.

The black tie event saw 1,200 people gather at the prestigious Grosvenor House hotel in London’s Park Lane.

Guest presenters included US editor at large for the Mail Online Piers Morgan and Dame Edna Everage.
