Saga Travel has unveiled its first holiday app designed to maximise holidaymakers’ time away.
Features of the app include details of what is included in a holiday or cruise, weather updates and a function for booking excursions.
A holiday countdown, which can be shared on Facebook and Twitter, has also been included.
Saga Travel asked more than 9,000 over 50s what they wanted most from a holiday company’s app when creating the MySaga Holiday App and having access to flight information emerged as the priority, followed by ship information for cruises.
One fifth of people also said they would enjoy counting down the days to their holiday via an app.
The balance of a holiday can also be paid for via the app.
Andrew Strong, chief executive of Saga Travel, said: “Three quarters of the over 50s have a smartphone or tablet these days and more than 13% of those are using a holiday company’s app, so we know how important it is for the savvy traveller to have up to the minute, easy access to their holiday or cruise details while they’re away.
“Our customers are now able to enhance their holiday while away by making changes and booking exciting excursions.”
The MySaga Holiday App is available for iOS and Android.
