A travel website created by Sunday Times columnist A A Gill has been given a major overhaul with an online booking engine included for the first time.

The new site features around 3,500 hotels around the world chosen by well known travel writers for what Travelintelligence.com calls their “individuality, atmosphere, design and character”.

Alongside the direct booking facility, Travelintelligence.com has installed a lowest price guarantee function for users.

Managing directors, James Dunford Wood and Marijn Muyser, said: “Our hotel selection is an independent one – we choose them for their personality and character.

“We have brought together over 100 of the world’s most respected travel writers to offer our customers independent reviews as well as showcasing the most inspirational travel writing on the web.”

A A Gill, who still acts as an editorial consultant, launched the site with Dunford Wood in 2000.

Content on the site also includes reviews of hotels and locations written by leading consumer travel writers.

Travelintelligence.com has recently pushed its unique visitor numbers to around 600,000 a month, an increase of 300% over the course of the last year.
