Budget hotel giant Travelodge is poised to unveil a new website with more functionality and a smoother, faster booking process this week.

The company has spent the past nine months redeveloping the site and opened up a beta version of the new service to its mytravelodge members to test.

The company worked with Leeds-based Sense Internet for the back-end technology and integration with the main reservation system and used Twenty Six London to help design the front end.

Chief operating officer Guy Parsons said: “This wasn’t about the old website not working. For the past two quarters we have been the number one in the destination and travel sector for Hitwise but we didn’t want to get complacent.”

In August, Parsons said the new website would offer more services for the consumer such as destination information around its hotels.

Travelodge.co.uk accounts for 87% of the chain’s bookings and attracts 500,000 a week to the site. The company has 330 hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
