Deals and newsletter publisher Travelzoo is bolstering its European growth plans with strong performance in the cruise sector in the UK.
European managing director Chris Loughlin told Travolution the UK site had moved into tenth position in the most visited cruise product websites in the first quarter of 2008.
The Hitwise data also puts Travelzoo in 19th position overall in the travel agency category during the same period, joining most of the leading travel brands in the UK.
The news comes as the Wall Street-listed company forms a strategic partnership with AOL in Germany to reproduce the Travelzoo Top 20 Deals each week in a dedicated area of the portal’s travel channel.
Loughlin said: “We will continue to look at similar deals in the markets in which we operate.
“AOL Germany is a premium, highly-respected network with huge reach. It is a testament to the quality of our content that AOL is willing to recommend Travelzoo and host a version of the Travelzoo Top 20 within its highly respected travel section.”
In the first three months of 2008 Travelzoo UK attracted 4.4 million visitors and the Top 20 newsletter is currently reaching 1.5 million subscribers each week across Europe.
