Amadeus is to become an honorary first associate member of the European Travel Commission.

This will enable the travel technology company to further support tourism as a driver of the European economy through “advocacy and information exchange”.

The ETC represents 33 national tourism organisations in Europe and has a long-standing collaboration with Amadeus.

The company’s industry affairs senior advisor Juan Jesus Garcia Sanchez said: “Our goal is to continue working together in collaboration with the European Commission and European Parliament to reinforce the competitiveness of the tourism sector in Europe.

“This partnership is also a good example of public-private co-operation and brings significant potential to strengthen this important sector.

“Associate membership to the ETC was opened this year for private companies, with the aim to gather the representatives of the travel sector and advocate the importance of tourism for the European economy.

“An exclusive short list of travel companies with a proven record of contribution to the European tourism economy have been offered associate membership.”

He added: “This partnership will build upon existing common projects, such as our VisitEurope App and will open the door to new possibilities in joint action in public affairs, research, and marketing promotion.”
