Telegraph Media Group has created a dedicated portal for cruise travellers and operators on its burgeoning travel channel.

The publisher of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers and Telegraph.co.uk will use the area to push more consumers towards cruise products as well as match with existing and new related editorial content.

Visitors can use a Google Map interface to search for ships or operators during a specific time frame to track destinations and overall routes.

The tool also links to comprehensive editorial pages so visitors can browse information about operator and ships.

Destination information and other editorial content from the main Telegraph travel section will be automatically streamed into the new cruise section.

Bookings will be made through a link to the operator’s site or directed to a call centre.

The Telegraph has signed six cruise operators – including P&O, Silversea and Princess Cruises – as official partners for the launch. It is expected to add more mainstream and niche cruise lines in the coming weeks.

The development is the latest in a line of improvements to the Telegraph travel section. It recently launched a flight search engine on its Expat channel, using the Global Travel Market meta search technology.

It currently uses TravelSupermarket for flight and hotel search on its main travel channel.
