eDreams Odigeo sees big rise in mobile customers

European online travel group eDreams Odigeo saw first quarter bookings growth of 4% to 2.6 million with a big rise in mobile customers.

European online travel group eDreams Odigeo saw first quarter bookings growth of 4% to 2.6 million with a big rise in mobile customers.

Mobile downloads increased by 73% or 4.9 million in the three months to June 30 with a 38% rise in mobile bookings over the same period last year.

Overall bookings increased by 4% up to 2.6 million, accompanied by a 2% increase in revenue margin per booking.

This resulted in a 6% growth of the consolidated revenue margin for a total of €113.8 million.

Adjusted net profit for the quarter came in at €3.4 million, an increase of 24% year-on-year.

The Barcelona-based company cited a strong performance of all business areas, particularly non-flight, together with continued growth outside Europe and an increase in revenue margin per booking.

Targets for the 2015-16 financial year announced in June are being maintained at more than 9.7 million bookings, a revenue margin over €436 million, and adjusted earnings [EBITDA] of €91-€94 million.

The company reported combined improved conversion rates for Opodo and GoVoyages in the quarter due to an ongoing move to a single front end platform.

The “solid performance” in the first three months was driven by growth in bookings, revenue margin per booking and the strong performance of expanding markets, including the UK and Germany, that are growing both in revenue margin and bookings by 21% and 26%, respectively.

Chief executive, Dana Dunne, said: “We are satisfied with the performance in the first quarter, which recovers growth after a difficult year.

“We have made good progress in continuing to deliver an enhanced customer experience and launching new products such as mobile, and this is laying strong foundations for our future growth.”
