A series of 360-degree virtual reality videos are being made available via an app produced by Azamara Club Cruises.

They feature the line’s onboard experience and tours of the Panama Canal, zip-lining through a rain forest in Costa Rica and a carriage ride through Cartagena in Colombia.

The Azamara 3di app is available for iPhones, iPads and iPods that run iOS 6.0 or above. Android users can get the same experience by going to azamara3di.com on their smartphones.

By selecting a hand icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen, users can manipulate the video up, down and 360-degrees around by dragging their finger around the screen.

Selecting the VR option at the bottom of the screen allows users to use their device with a Google Cardboard headset and enjoy the virtual reality experience.

The line’s president and chief executive, Larry Pimentel, said: “We didn’t want to launch an app just to have an app. When perfecting our first app, providing this sensory journey was not negotiable.

“As we continue to redefine the luxury cruise experience for the next generation, we need to reach them in meaningful ways and provide information to them where they are looking for it.

“Having an app is important, but more important is the content it provides.”
