Automated payments system Moneydirect plans to unveil its UK launch customers in the next few months.

The joint venture between Amadeus and Sabre, which was created in the summer of 2007 following European Commission approval, now has subsidiaries in New Zealand, Australia and the US.

Moneydirect chief operating officer Laurent Chartier said tour operators and travel agents were among customers and that the company had been pleased with the level of enquiries from the industry so far.

He added that the past few months had been spent developing enhancements for the payments platform such as technology to enable multi-currency payments.

Chartier said: “The plan is to complete the enhancements so the customers can start using the platform and we are close now.”

The Moneydirect platform acts as a central system for the payment and collection of fees, commissions, invoices and deposits.

All payments can be loaded on to the system and then sorted by a number of criteria such as date or type of retailer. The platform is GDS independent.
