Amadeus’s new app offers in-trip bookings

Amadeus has announced WestEast Travel and Atlas Travel as the launch customers for its new travel agency mobile solution for western Europe.

Designed for the UK’s rapidly growing smartphone user base, the app is intended to deliver an optimised itinerary management experience and assist travel sellers to strengthen their customer relationships throughout the lifecycle of their trip.

It offers up pre-trip, in-trip and post-trip information and booking functionality.

Kevin Huynh, managing director at WestEast Travel, said: “We are using technology to get our products and offers to the right customers at the right time.

“This app helps us connect more personally to our customers too, not just in terms of booking, but with real-time information for their travel plans, allowing us to notify them of any flight disruptions or schedule changes, as and when it happens.

“It also enables us to enter new markets and compete with larger competitors.”

Features of the new app, available for Apple and Android, include bookable hotel and taxi services; the ability to consolidate itinerary elements that are booked outside the usual channel and integrated transport options, synchronised to the travel itinerary.
