Car rental distribution specialist CarTrawler looks poised to reveal a string of high volume deals in the coming weeks.

The Dublin-based specialist is believed to be finalising deals with a major online travel agency as well as a technology specialist.

Chief executive Greg Turley declined to name either company but was confident there would be an announcement within weeks.

The news came as CarTrawler revealed its first major distribution signing in North America.

The company has joined forces with the Airline Reporting Corporation to provide car rental in 134 countries to more than 20,000 travel agencies across the US.

The car rental content, which goes live next Monday, provides agents with access to major car rental brands as well as smaller independent companies without having to go through a global distribution system.

Turley said: “We’re expecting a big turnout from this deal but it’s impossible to put figures on it and there may be an education process.”

CarTrawler is putting a team in the US from next week to help train agents on the system. The company is also considering the possibility of agent incentives.

CarTrawler is continuing to target airlines with its technology although Turley admitted the company was able to hit the market faster through deals with technology companies.

“We’re full steam ahead on the airline front because we see it as the home of travel. People book their flight before they book anything else.”
