Portuguese airline TAP has signed up to Viator’s service, as the travel experience company adds Italian as its 10th local language website.

TAP customers now have direct access to Viator’s tours and activities around the world.

Along with activities, customers will be able to view reviews and photographs to help them find and book tours, events and shows in advance.

The TripAdvisor company also works with more than 3,000 distribution partners including major airlines.

To use the service, TAP passengers can go to the flytap.com website, select ‘Plan & Book’ and the option ‘Tours and Activities’.

Meanwhile it.viator.com has become Viator’s most recent addition to the company’s selection of local language sites, developed to better serve travellers in growing online travel markets.

It joins European language sites in French, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish, as well as the company’s Japanese language site launched in 2011 and Brazilian Portuguese launched in 2012.

Barrie Seidenberg, chief executive of Viator, said: “At Viator, our goal is to provide travellers with access to the most amazing insider travel experiences everywhere they go, and the tools they need to book them.

“Enabling our customers to research and select the tour that is just right for them in the language they’re most comfortable with makes the booking experience that much simpler and creates an enhanced end-to-end user experience.”

Soft-launched in June, the Italian site is already said to be generating traffic and bookings. Among the most popular destinations being booked are Rome, Milan, Paris, London, Barcelona, New York, Las Vegas and Tokyo.
