Thomson site has Spanish draw
The top five destinations searched for on Thomson.co.uk in January were all within traditional Spanish island getaways.
Research supplied by the operator show Majorca topped the list, followed by Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Ibiza.
The most popular destinations booked followed a similar pattern with Majorca, Tenerife and Gran Canaria taking the top three spots followed by Egypt’s Sharm el Sheikh and Paphos.
Flight searches and flights booked were also dominated by Spain with Alicante, Malaga and Tenerife South appearing in the top three spots in both cases.
Comparable information from the site last year tells a similar story with the Spanish destinations dominating throughout.
Videos viewed on the site told a different story however with Cape Verde, the Maldives, Goa, Majorca and the Dominican Republic taking the top five most looked at compared with 2007 when the Red Sea and Tunisia were among favourites.
The operator claims 800,000 videos have been viewed on Thomson.co.uk every week since the beginning of 2008 compared with 1.5 million for the whole of January 2007.
