Wegolo and WC Travel picked for PlanItGay.com search tools
Wegolo and WC Travel will provide online search facilities for travel products on a new site targeting gay travellers.
PlanItGay.com will be launched by the recently created Reside International brand in March 2008 and include versions in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.
The creators have promised an emphasis on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-friendly (LGBT) accommodation when selecting hotels for the site.
WC Travel will run the hotel and traditional airline search facilities while Wegolo will handle search for low-cost carrier fares.
The site will also include LGBT-friendly cruises, package holidays, and for advice for HIV+ travellers.
Reside International founder and managing director, Richard Cruise, said a portion of all profits from the site will go to the Terrence Higgins Trust and Elton John AIDS Foundation
Cruise said: “From my own travel searches I saw there was a gap in the market for a travel website for gay and lesbian community worldwide.
“Like everyone else, LGBT travellers want up to date, accurate information about the travel options out there, and also the assurance that they will be welcome in the locations they visit.”
