Hotels.com has launched a further five new local sites in Europe, taking the Expedia-owned aggregator’s total across the continent to 25.

The five sites – in the Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Iceland and Hungary – will all be launched under the new Wake Up Happy branding, introduced initially in the UK last year.

Hotels.com’s drive into Eastern Europe began last year with the launch of sites in Poland Russia.

Other markets on the European portfolio include Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

EMEA marketing director Patrik Öqvist said: “We have been running successful English language sites in all five new territories, but are aware that it is the local language sites that are key to unlocking these markets’ full potential.

“The online travel sector continues to grow rapidly across the EMEA region and in particular in those markets that are not as mature as our main western European territories.”
