Traveltainment plans to introduce its agency selling system at the Travel Technology Show next month.

The system, which is already in use in Germany, bypasses viewdata to offer agents direct connectivity to tour operators.

Travel Office will feature rich content such as hotel descriptions and images and tours from Traveltainment’s existing database.

Colin McKee, UK sales director of the Amadeus-owned company, said that although the system was ready to open up to agents there is still work to do on connectivity with some operators.

“We have a lot of product and the availability but connecting to make the booking is the challenge but the rich content is one of the biggest selling points.”

McKee added that until now Traveltainment had been focusing on its internet booking engine, which is already being used by a number of online agencies and is about to be adopted by TravelRepublic.

The company has also been working on dynamic packaging technology for both Travel Office and the internet booking engine which will enable a blended search of both traditional packages alongside bedbanks and flights.
