Airbnb competition to reward most compelling Pinterest destination board

Airbnb has joined up with Pinterest to run a ‘Pin Your Dream Trip’ competition.

A UK traveller and a companion can win a week-long, all expenses paid holiday anywhere in the world, staying at an Airbnb property.

The winner of the contest will be the Pinterest user who creates what is deemed to be the most compelling board of their dream destination on the visual discovery tool.

In return, the competition-winner will pin about their trip while away “to help others to experience what it’s really like to live like a local”.

It is hoped that the winner will be pursuing a hobby or interest they have a passion for.

Pinterest said at present the ‘top-pinned’ destinations by UK users are Argentina, French Polynesia, Milos in Greece, Rome and the Lofoten Islands in Norway.

James McClure, Airbnb country manager for the UK, said: “Feeding the increasing desire of travellers to live like a local and experience more meaningful trips than ever before, people are pursuing everything from surfing to sushi-making with the help of our hosts.

“Extraordinary experiences can be seen on Pinterest and realised on Airbnb and we look forward to making another dream trip a reality.”

Entries can be made here, the competition closes on June 19. The winning Pinner and their companion will make their trip this summer.
