Bebo has opened its platform to third party developers and unveiled Where I’ve Been as its first travel-related application.

WIB is one of the most popular travel applications on rival social network Facebook and also recently launched on MySpace.

Members can plot destinations they would like to go to, have visited and lived.

The Bebo version will also have exclusive features only available for the next 30 days including a tool which shows the price of a flight to a member’s home city, currency exchange rate and weather reports.

Flight data is being provided by Orbitz Worldwide, similar to functionality on its Facebook application.

Bebo chief executive and co-founder Michael Birch said: “Where I’ve Been allows Bebo users to interact with other members in their network.

“The team at Where I’ve Been has built great application that’s fun and easy to use.”

The opening of the Bebo platform is likely to trigger a wave of new applications similar to when Facebook led the way earlier this year. There are currently around 300 travel-related applications on Facebook, with many built by leading travel companies such as TripAdvisor and Sidestep.

Where I’ve Been founder Craig Ulliott added: “We are proud to be a key travel application on Bebo, and to introduce helpful and fun features that will attract new users and excite existing ones.”
