Holiday park operator Siblu will become one of the first UK travel companies to embrace next generation web technology when it launches a Rich Internet Application-based booking engine.

Siblu – formerly known as Haven Holidays – will unveil the RIA-based system next week ahead of its traditionally busy booking period of January and February.

The launch is the fruits of six months of work by development company Monochrome and will be the first in a part of major upgrades to the Siblu system in the coming months.

Siblu currently sells 52% of its holidays via the internet and is hoping to increase the ratio by up to 15% over the next 12 months.

The Siblu system will include the entire booking on a single screen, using drop down menus, step processes on a vertical navigation and multi-window display for information and holiday recommendations.

RIAs also allow websites to incorporate multimedia – such as images, video, 360-degree tours and other destination content – onto the same screen.

Siblu head of ecommerce William Goodridge said: “We will be able to show much richer information as customers make their booking.

“We have never truly been able to find a way of displaying it all until now – but the new booking engine has given us the opportunity to use it all.”

In the coming months the new booking engine will be incorporated into dedicated slot on the home page

A dedicated version is also to be created to cater for the high number of domestic customers in France.

Siblu operates 18 holiday parks in France, as well as three in both Italy and Spain.
