Following a successful trial Heathrow has partnered with minicabit, enabling online users to compare and book fixed minicab quotes through Heathrow’s website and mobile app.

Quotes are available from hundreds of licensed private hire operators around Heathrow and across the UK.

The trial found that demand to book trips varied from within the hour to 12 months ahead.

Over 85% of journeys taken were 15 miles or more and included single and return trips.

Heathrow’s director of commercial passenger services, Chris Annetts said: “Heathrow is always seeking out new, innovative ways for its business and leisure travellers to easily access a mix of suitable ground transport options.

“Our partnership with minicabit has enabled us to easily integrate its single, UK-wide platform to service the ‘last mile’ of our visitors’ trips by minicab.

“We particularly look forward to extending this service with them into areas such as our Heathrow Rewards loyalty program and new mobile innovations.”

Amer Hasan, chief executive of minicabit, said: “This partnership with Heathrow enhances the airport’s web and mobile offering from the passenger’s door to the airport gate.

“Given the longest minicab trip booked with us, so far, is from Newcastle to Heathrow, customers clearly see the benefits of minicabit’s UK-wide reach.”
