Heathrow Express, the rail link between London Heathrow Airport and Paddington Station has released a new app that books and displays tickets, and informs the next train’s departure time.

The Heathrow Express App, from the UK’s only privately-held railway company, displays live service updates and can provide service notifications based on travel dates.

The app removes the need for printed tickets and allows users to save multiple payment cards. It has PCI DSS security compliance, the payment card industry security standard.

For added security, users must input their card’s three-digit security code each time they book, this code is never stored by the app.All major payment cards except Maestro are accepted.

Mobile tickets can be purchased as little as 15 minutes before travel and will match the lowest website fare. A single ticket will be valid for three months, return tickets are valid for one month after the outward journey.

Fraser Brown, commercial director of Heathrow Express, said: “This slick new app will help improve the Heathrow experience particularly for frequent flyers. Tickets appear directly on your smartphone, so there’s no need to queue at any point.”

The app is available for Apple and Android devices.
