Distribusion claims ‘world first’ with GDS for European intercity bus market

Distribusion Technologies, a Berlin-based travel tech start-up, has launched the world’s first GDS developed specifically for the rapidly growing European intercity bus market.

Distribusion Technologies, a Berlin-based travel tech start-up, has launched the world’s first GDS developed specifically for the rapidly growing European intercity bus market.

Until now, travel agencies and OTAs have had to connect to various providers and maintain multiple reservation systems.

Distribusion’s goal is to streamline the sale of bus tickets by connecting travel resellers with national and international bus operators.

The single integrated technology platform will simplify the process of selling bus tickets that are valid across multiple operators. The platform will enable travel agencies, OTAs and mobile apps to offer customers a wide range of bus products.

This will bring the facilities which have long been standard practice for other modes of transportation to bus ticketing.

Julian Hauck, chief executive and co-founder of Distribusion, said: “You can easily book a flight at any travel agency or website around the world. This is not possible for intercity bus tickets.

“We want to change that and make distribution of bus products as simple and cost-efficient as possible.”

The company is already collaborating with more than 30 bus operators and provides standardised bus content for dozens of travel websites.
