Amadeus is working on what it calls a “paradigm shift” in its business proposition which will include a pioneering search product for clients.

The system, which will act as an intelligent search engine by providing ideas for products, is currently in development and due for possible release in the second half of 2008.

Details of the system have yet to be fully disclosed but Amadeus will produce results, or suggestions, based on a series of criteria entered by users or agents, such as length of stay, country or type of holiday.

It is hoped the system will go some way to replicating some of the “inspirational” aspects of interacting with agents in the traditional retail marketplace.

Gillian Gibson, vice president of the Amadeus multi-national customer group, told Travolution some clients would need to re-engineer their front end user interface to incorporate the system as it will not typically adhere to traditional ‘from’ or ‘to’ search options.

She added: “Amadeus is developing this new technology engine which will power a range of new search capabilities, making travel search much, much more flexible.”

“I think this is going to be a huge differentiator for us going forward.”

Amadeus is celebrating 20 years in business this month and is continuing its strategy to push into new areas of technology as well as providing its traditional GDS.
