ExpertFlyer.com, a US-based corporate travel planning tool, is to target the leisure market in 2008 by launching a global consumer site.

The site has achieved a steady following to its subscription system since it launched in January 2005 but now has plans to reach a wider market next year.

The system allows travellers to view seat options on flights before they make a booking.

Loyalty points and upgrade tariffs are also displayed on the site, which was founded by a former US commercial aviation pilot, Joseph Lopinto.

ExpertFlyer currently taps into GDS data from Galileo and Apollo in order to display seat and upgrade options for the corporate market.

The consumer site would initially launch with a number of leading airlines providing data and will hope to continue an existing relationship between ExpertFlyer and TripSync for bookings.
