Ebookers is to add package holidays to its inventory of products for the first time within the next few months as further improvements are made to recently relaunched website.

The online travel agency has traditionally concentrated on providing flight and hotel components and, more recently, dynamically packaged products.

UK & Ireland managing director Ciaran Lally told Travolution negotiations were underway with a number of tour operators to include their products on the site.

The move comes as Ebookers continues its first major offline branding campaign since its acquisition by Cendant in 2005 and following its relaunch during the summer.

Orbitz Worldwide, which operates Ebookers after spinning off from Travelport (formerly Cendant) earlier this year, is expected to move all its leisure travel online properties – such as Cheaptickets, Rates2Go, Flairview and Orbitz – to the global technology platform by 2009.

However, Ebookers is already including 84,000 hotel properties from inventories of GTA, Orbitz Merchant and HotelClub.

Lally confirmed the Ebookers site in Ireland will be next in Europe to be on the new platform and will be unveiled by the end of 2007, with the remaining 11 due to be integrated during 2008.

The offline advertising campaign in the UK, worth around £1.5 million during its seven-week run, will be supported by online activity throughout the remainder of 2007, Lally added.
