Travolution and IBM to host travel start-up summit and hackathon in London

Half-day event will include keynote addresses from leading travel brands working with start-ups to drive innovation

Travolution has teamed up with global technology giants IBM and Travelport to hold a travel start-up summit in June.

The Travolution Travel Start-up Summit 2018 will take place on June 15 at IBM’s prestigious London offices on the Thames South Bank near Waterloo.

The half-day event will include keynote addresses from some of the leading brands in travel that are working with the start-up community to drive innovation.

It will also feature a hackathon in the run up to the event, that will culminate in a live pitch final in front of a panel of judges.

Travolution has confirmed Culture Trip founder and chief executive Kris Naudts as a keynote speaker at the event.

The fast-growing London-based firm has recently revealed its intention to create an OTA and this week announced an $80 million funding round.

The start-up summit will also showcase some leading investors and start-ups in travel and reveal how they are establishing themselves in this vibrant sector.

Ian Leonard, IBM head of sales for travel and transport, said: “IBM is delighted to be hosting the Travolution Start-up Summit at our client centre on the South Bank of the Thames.

“We look forward to its exciting new format and welcoming you all to what will be a truly innovative event.”

Lee Hayhurst, editor of Travolution, said: “It’s amazing to be working with IBM, a company with unrivalled global reputation and reach, on this important event.

“Our last start-up summit in 2016 marked Travolution’s 10th anniversary of covering the digital travel sector and was a great success.

“We hope to build on that this year and in doing so demonstrate just what a dynamic, innovative and exciting industry travel is, not just here in London, but globally.”

“The Travolution Start-up Summit 2018 will see 130 senior travel industry delegates attend the half?day event including C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, investors, advisers and some of the most exciting start-ups in the sector.”
