Vacation property rentals manager VTrips has announced a further $1 million investment in technology that will see voice-activated devices rolled out in its properties.

Devices such as the Amazon Echo will be added to VTrips’ more than 2,000 properties as it invests in hospitality home automation.

Over the last two years, VTrips has invested $1 million in home automation including
equipping properties with high speed wireless, keyless locks, state-of- the art thermostats
and smart lighting.

The additional investment also aims to reduce energy consumption for homeowner and the full roll-out, including voice-automated devices, is expected to be completed by 2020.

Amy Africa, chief marketing officer at VTrips, said: “The addition of the Echo devices will allow us to have a central hub for all the work that we’ve done so far on home automation – the lighting, thermostats and keyless locks. Our plan for all our properties is for everything, from guest check in- to guest check-out, to tie into the Echo device.

“Our guests will be able to use the devices to enhance their experience by quickly and easily finding out what’s happening in the area, checking flights, playing music, and in some areas ordering groceries. Our guests will also be able to leave messages to our housekeeping and service staff, 24/7, knowing we are only a “hey Alexa” away.”

Steve Milo, CEO and founder of VTrips, added: “We believe that the future of hospitality depends on the perfect marriage between ever evolving technology and enhanced guest experience. We are proud to be pioneers in the hospitality industry, and smart home technology is an area where we are excelling. Not only for the benefit of our homeowners, who will see reduced costs through managed energy consumption, but also for our guests – by providing them with the ability to enjoy the comforts of home whilst on vacation.”

Founded in 2006 with 15 properties, Florida-based VTrips now operates in 19 markets across the United States.
