Thomson Airways enlists social media to name Dreamliner

A social media campaign run by Thomson Airways to name its sixth Boeing 787 Dreamliner has attracted 680 entries.

A social media campaign run by Thomson Airways to name its sixth Boeing 787 Dreamliner has attracted 680 entries.

Consumers were asked to choose their favourite Dreamliner image, with the winner having the latest addition to the fleet named after them.

Those entering the competition had to capture images wherever they could spot any Dreamliner.

The winner will have their first name painted on the fuselage and receive a holiday to Mauritius, flying on a Dreamliner.

The airline reached out to the wider Facebook community to choose the ultimate winner, with users of the social network being able to pick their favourite image from five shortlisted entries on the Thomson and First Choice Facebook pages. The photo with the most ‘likes’ will be announced the winner.

The top five shortlisted images were judged by Instragram photographer Jess MacDonald – @miss_jess and the airline’s managing director Captain John Murphy.

The airline will take delivery of three more 787 aircraft next year, and recently announced it will be taking delivery of two more before 2018.
