Kayak has created a desktop app that gives users views of different destinations as their screen’s background with a clickable link to look at flights.

The company’s Kayak Desktop Escape app offers imagery from 94 destinations and was timed to be released to help Brits combat their ‘January Blues’.

Users can choose how often their desktop background changes, from as often as every hour to once a week.

At the top of the desktop, a small tab appears with the cost of the cheapest price and a small description of the destination. If users click the ‘escape’ button they are re-directed to the Kayak.co.uk website for more detailed information.

Neil Cartwright, travel expert at KAYAK, said: “As we leave Christmas and New Year behind us and get back to work we often need inspiration and the promise of a holiday to get us through the cold winter months.

“With travel being one of the best escapes to refresh our batteries and motivate us throughout the year, Kayak created the Desktop Escape app to inspire users to get away and plan their next adventure.”
