Expedia Affiliate Network is to expand distribution of hotels to the trade in central and Eastern Europe.

A deal has been struck with Polish travel technology firm Anixe to gain access to more than 350,000 hotels via EAN’s API.

The new venture will broaden Anixe’s hotel inventory, particularly in central and eastern Europe, where many travel providers were previously unable to access EAN rates and availability due to differences in data management methods in those regions.

EAN sales vice president for EMEA and Latin America, Alfonso Paredes, said: “We are constantly evolving our product offering in line with our partner’s feedback and the needs of the global travel market.

“Alongside continuous product innovation, we source and invest in technology partners that unlock new opportunities to support the travel industry.

“Anixe’s technology has allowed us to reach more travel partners in the tour operator, airline and flight ticket retailer sectors, particularly in central and eastern Europe, where there is specific demand for EAN’s extensive accommodation portfolio and competitive rates and availability.”

Anixe chief executive Piotr ?o?nierek added: “A key factor in our decision to work with EAN was the ability to offer our partners access to its package rates and vitally, more available hotel rooms in more countries across the globe.

“We are excited to be able to tap into EAN’s last minute booking capabilities, which will be particularly valuable to our airline partners whose travellers prefer choice and flexibility when it comes to booking their accommodation.”
