Travel software developer Peakwork is to establish a new technology development centre in China.

The base, run in conjunction with local operator Lucky Trip, will focus on the developing dynamic packaging technology and other products to serve the Chinese market.

The company’s technology aims to address rising demand in China for personalised travel services at cost effective prices.

The partnership will enable Chinese companies to benefit from both Peakwork’s dynamic packaging technology and its advanced online distribution and sourcing of travel services.

Asian travellers will be able to book travel services from Tui, Thomas Cook and other overseas travel retailers who through Peakwork technology directly purchase domestic hotels, flight tickets and other travel and tourism resources in China.

Lucky Trip chief executive Qing Zhang said: “Peakwork is an important technology partner who is already supporting the tourism business of global giants such as Facebook and Google.

“The partnership between Lucky Trip and Peakwork will provide cost-effective products and a superior service for global travellers.”

Peakwork chief executive Jan Gerlach said: “Peakwork will help its Chinese partner Lucky Trip enhance Chinese customers’ travel booking systems.

“Peakwork’s open search and dynamic packaging technology will change current Chinese user’s travel behaviour for the better.”
