Rentalcars.com has won the award for the World’s Leading Car Rental App at the 2017 World Travel Awards for the third straight year.

The app allows customers to book rental vehicles from 900 car rental companies in 53,000 locations across 160 countries. The car rental site put its win down to maximising the app’s ease of use, allowing customers to compare prices and book in “just a few clicks”.

Customers can book, view and amend bookings on the app, which provides booking information even while offline. Customers pick up their car with their phones, using the voucher on the app.

The app supports 34 languages and reservation information is available in both the customer’s first language and the destination language. It has been downloaded by more than six million people.

Chief executive of Rentalcars.com, Ian Brown, said: “We are delighted our app has been awarded the World’s Leading Car Rental App at the World Travel Awards for three consecutive years.

“At Rentalcars.com, we aim to be at the cutting edge of technology, and our app has been designed to create a frictionless journey for the customer. This is something our expert product and engineering colleagues are continuously working towards, so we are delighted that their hard work and commitment has been acknowledged in this way.

“As a growing company, we remain committed to improving our service every day, and I’m pleased to say we have some exciting developments in the pipeline for next year.”

The World Travel Awards were held in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, on December 10.
