Air France is to launch a desktop widget for UK travellers as part of a wider strategy to boost its digital and mobile services.

The desktop tool will notify users when a particular fare or promotion is available and deep link users to the Air France web booking engine.

The airline revealed the widget will be available to British customers by the end of 2007.

Air France is also expected to roll out its mobile check-in facility to UK-based passengers by the end of the year. The service is currently available at main France and European airports and KLM short and medium flights.

Virgin Atlantic launched a desktop widget last year for UK customers.

Air France said: “This easy-to-install gadget allows users to stay informed in real time of the latest fare promotions available on flights departing from their region.

“By clicking on the alert icon that appears on the computer screen, the web user will be taken directly to the reservation page of the local Air France site.”
