Glasgow-based travel technology supplier Traveltek says recent rapid international expansion helped it have one of its busiest World Travel Markets ever.

In the last 12-months the firm has opened new regional offices in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

It claims this prompted a surge in interest from travel agents, tour operators and wholesalers from Middle East markets at WTM.

Interest also came from a wide range of international suppliers including airlines and bed banks to ancillary providers, and tour operators.

Peter Whittle, global sales director at Traveltek, said: “In the UK alone, we plug into more independent agency desktops than any other provider, and as our expansion strategy gains momentum, with our client base rapidly growing across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America, we can offer suppliers and tour operators global distribution capabilities that deliver tangible results.

“Strong brand recognition, trade recommendations and our reputation gained from working with the world’s leading travel companies, are also key draw cards for potential clients, not to mention our API, which connects travel bookers to more than 300 suppliers.”

On day one of WTM, Traveltek unveiled its next-generation cruise booking platform. Traveltek CruiseNX offers travel and cruise specialists a raft of enhanced capabilities designed to increase productivity and enhance the user experience.

Traveltek’s upbeat assessment was reflected in an upswing in UK travel industry sentiment, with a WTM report revealing 75% of industry professionals expect the sector to grow strongly in 2018.

Almost 80% of those surveyed anticipated an increase in bookings next year compared to 67% last year.

“Travel companies that have the right technology in place can capitalise on this upswing in business,” said Whittle. “That’s why in 2018, Traveltek will be introducing further user experience enhancements, helping agencies improve efficiency, drive profitability and make the most of positive consumer sentiment.”
