TripAdvisor enters food delivery sector through Takeaway.com deal

TripAdvisor is entering the meals delivery sector in Europe through a tie-in with Dutch firm Takeaway.com.

The online travel giant will integrate Takeaway.com’s 31,000 restaurants into its desktop site, mobile website and apps.

Orders can be made from food outlets in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and Portugal.

Terms and length of the agreement will not be disclosed, TripAdvisor said.

Takeaway.com chief operating officer Jörg Gerbig said: “We are very happy that TripAdvisor has chosen Takeaway,com as their partner to offer their users the most convenient way of ordering food from the widest choice in restaurants and kitchen types in Continental Europe.

“We are looking forward to partnering with TripAdvisor and further expand our leading position in Europe.”
