Peer-to-peer unwanted travel marketplace TransferTravel.com has completed a £1million series A funding round.

The start-up launched in June 2016 and has since acquired over 70,000 registered users and more than 2,000 listings on its site.

Founder Simon Powell said the money from private investors will fund enhancements to its website, development of an app and further global exposure.

“It’s an exciting time for the company and we can’t wait to grow the brand further,” said Powell.

TransferTravel.com, which has just opened an office in London, has been shortlisted for Travolution’s Start up of the Year Award, which will be announced on November 28.

“We are proud to be recognised as a growing start-up within the travel industry,” added brand manager Jenna Heidstrom.
