Popular TV shows continue to drive flight searches, says Kiwi.com

Searches to destinations where popular TV shows are filmed are on the up, according to Kiwi.com

This week, it saw a spike in flight searches to San José airport, Panama, after the airing of Channel 4’s Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.

There was a 50% increase in flight searches for panama on Kiwi.com following the start of the second series on August 29.

Alison Couper, from Kiwi.com said: “It’s incredible to see the influence that Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls has had on holidaymakers, especially with flight searches to such a remote island. As the season progresses and the celebrities are put in more peril, it will be interesting to see the shows popularity continue to grow.”

Kiwi.com also reported an upturn in searches for flights to the destinations where popular fantasy epic Game of Thrones was filmed throughout the latest series.

Searches to destinations including Dubrovnik, Northern Ireland, Iceland and Seville were up.
