VisitBritain is continuing its digital push by hiring The Search Works to handle search engine optimisation across its suite of international websites.

The UK agency beat off competition for the business in a four-way pitch including Bigmouthmedia and Spannerworks.

The announcement follows news this week that VisitBritain had switched provider of flight search facilities on its websites from meta search specialist TravelFusion to a roster of companies including Opodo.

VisitBritain international online marketing manager for VisitBritain, Vickie Birnage, said: “Organic search is a critical source of traffic for the VisitBritain.com sites, so the agency selection was very vital.

“The Search Works met our criteria needs and provided, not only the fundamental approach to the bread and butter of SEO but also forward thinking activities that will be hugely beneficial to us.”

The Search Works recently started working with TravelSupermarket on a consultancy basis for its pay-per-click activity. EasyJet has also switched its SEO duties into The Search Works.
