Machine learning powered travel guide content provider Triposo has pivoted to become an API platform for travel recommendation.

The Amsterdam-based firm has raised $7 million to date and its travel guide app has seen over ten million downloads.

Three months ago it pivoted to pursue an API strategy and it is now providing intelligent travel content to the likes of Momondo and its cheapflights.com brand.

The Triposo API delivers travel content on 50,000 destinations, spanning 200 countries and three million points of interest.

The firm says this has the capability of driving greater loyalty and brand affinity among its clients’ customers by improving user engagement in destination.

As well as working with big travel companies the Triposo platform is available for free to small start-ups and freelance developers.

It provides start-ups with a free travel platform and intelligence to take their products to market.

The API allows developers and start-ups to tap into data scoring and tagging infrastructure to create apps that serve every travel use case.

In the three months since the API launch Triposo has 500 developers using their platform. Small start-ups using it include Atameo.

Future developments for Triposo will be in the realm of personalisation to ensure all recommendations for travellers are based on past history and preferences.
