MyTravel director of digital Russell Gould is to take on one of the most critical jobs in the newly created Thomas Cook Group.

Gould will be director of ecommerce in the UK & Ireland for the merged Thomas Cook and MyTravel businesses, responsible for creating a super-site for the pair and putting other digital platforms into place.

The former-Thomas Cook director of ecommerce Andy Tidy will continue to work on web-related projects for the group. Gould will report into executive director of distribution, Simon Robinson.

The new TCG role will include creating a multi-channel strategy to take on the combined might of 17,000 hours of on-demand TV-quality videos and editorial content from Thomas Cook Publishing-produced travel guide.

Gould said: “The e-commerce agenda is incredibly exciting, pioneering and of course challenging.

“We have ambitious plans to bring together not only our two online propositions to create a leading e-commerce business, as well as helping us implement our multi-channel vision.

“Harnessing the e-commerce expertise and experience across the new merged business will help propel development, delivery and the overall customer proposition.”

Gould will also be responsible for Thomas Cook TV and the Travel Clubs division.
