Paxport is the latest travel technology provider to be certified by Lufthansa as part of the airline’s NDC direct distribution strategy.

The driving forces are lower distribution costs, time-to-market for high-margin ancillary services and personalisation to fit customer needs.

Lufthansa claims to be is taking industry leadership by actively diversifying its distribution portfolio.

The deal with merchandising distribution systems provider Paxport follows the Swedish company taking over UK travel software firm Multicom last year.

Lufthansa head of direct distribution solutions and standards Mario Maier said: “The agreement with Paxport is another milestone in our long-term distribution strategy to provide our customers with more personalised and dynamically created offers by improving and expanding the communication between airlines, partners and technology providers with additional services and enriched information, using NDC capable solutions.”

Paxport commercial director Mats Torebrandt added: “Complementing existing solutions with more dynamic, market focused distribution alternatives is regarded as a strong trend in the industry.

“This is an attractive opportunity for travel re-sellers to provide more detailed information and personalized services and content, as more airlines follow Lufthansa’s example.”
